Pistes Solidaires is looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic about alternative education, social inclusion and daily community life, ready to support young people and families in a dynamic school environment in Belgium.
THE HOST ORGANISATION
De Wissel is a CANO organisation (Centre for Support and Development of the Active Network). The CANO concept is based on the belief in the potential of young people and their environment.
De Wissel sees it as its mission to create spaces where young people can grow according to their own needs and surroundings, so they can thrive and make constructive choices for their future.
The organisation acts as a counselling network for teenagers and young families, and is constantly seeking new methods to support its mission.
The volunteer will work in the alternative school Rizsas, part of the De Wissel network.
ACTIVITIES OF THE VOLUNTEER
The volunteer will be involved in the daily life of the school by preparing and implementing activities for children. They will be expected to commit to their tasks, even when young people may not feel motivated to participate. The volunteer will also support the community by helping with cooking and daily maintenance of the space, always with a positive and proactive attitude.
