Pistes Solidairesis looking for volunteers who are passionate about animals, outdoor work and youth support, ready to get involved in an educational and therapeutic project combining nature and social impact.
THE HOST ORGANISATION
De Wissel is a CANO organisation (Centre for Support and Development of the Active Network). The CANO concept is based on the belief in the potential of young people and their environment.
De Wissel sees it as its mission to create spaces where young people can grow according to their own needs and surroundings, so they can thrive and make constructive choices for their future.
The organisation acts as a counselling network for teenagers and young families, and is constantly seeking new methods to support its mission.
The volunteer will work in the alternative school Rizsas, part of the De Wissel network.
ACTIVITIES OF THE VOLUNTEER
The volunteer will work with at-risk youth, horses, and dogs, helping to build meaningful relationships between them and supporting their personal development. Tasks include caring for the animals and their environment, such as feeding, cleaning the meadows and paddocks, and daily horse care. The volunteer will also assist in workshops with the youth, creating opportunities for growth and connection. A typical day starts at 8:30 AM with horse care, continues with various support tasks in the afternoon, and ends with more animal-related duties around 3:00 PM. Volunteers should be comfortable with routine and repetitive tasks, and motivated by hands-on, purposeful work.
