The context:
Storytelling is one of the most ancient forms of education. By telling stories, people have always shared their experiences, their observations, their opinions, their cultural beliefs, their traditions and their history. According to neurologist Gerald Hulter, “we like to think in images because they are not only cognitively richer, but also emotionally richer”. Learners of all ages enjoy listening to a story and this allows them to develop a positive attitude towards the learning process. Following this idea, the aim of this project is to test storytelling with adults to check if it can be an effective tool to use in adult education (basic and civic education).

The objectives of the project are:
– To develop a learning course aimed at adult educators which will allow them to use Storytelling as a tool to share knowledge and skills to their learners. This learning course will be developed in 3 steps:

  1. An online course about the methodological fundaments on basic and civic education.
  2. Face to face workshops to practice storytelling and to exchange with other participating adult educators.
  3. Implementation scenarios in the schools/courses.

The result:
After the implementation of the project, adult trainers will have been able to participate in a learning course which will allow them to use storytelling as a tool to teach their adult learners. At the same time, adult learners will be able to benefit of this experience and to show if this activity works.
